I created these math mats in my own 2nd grade classroom because I was tired of students spending more time drawing place value charts or trying to line up numbers than actually doing the math. I wanted my students to focus on thinking—not formatting.

After using them daily and tweaking them over time, these mats became an essential part of our math block. They helped my students stay focused, build number sense, and gain confidence—because the tools they needed were already right in front of them.
